Akademska Rakija - O nama

Rakija is the name for Serbian brandy, made from fruits. Quinces, Apricots, Plums, Grapes, Pears, and Apples are the types of fruit used for making rakija. Rakija has a characteristic fresh taste and refreshing aroma. Depending on the fruit and the taste we want to achieve, some sorts of rakija are better to age in oak barrels, glass or inox.

Every great story starts with small steps.

Our story starts at University where we met each other and realized that we share the same interests. Love for rakija and tradition. We have shared our experience since we were kids. How we were sitting next to our grandfathers, helping them and watching them show how it’s made. That is how the idea of making our rakija was born.

We started with an old family recipe and made our first product, rakija from quince, which is the most difficult to make. After years of research, development, and testing, here we are, sharing the results of our work with you.

Rakija is not just a drink. In Serbian culture, it doesn’t matter if it is a celebration or a sad occasion, the bottle of rakija is always on the table and shared with friends.

That is why people joke in Serbia: “Rakija, connecting people.”
